What is Dead May Never Die
Hi again.
It's been a while, huh? Also, not that long. Time is... bendy this year. June is December but years ago now. I don't really know how to sum it up. There's cognitive science out there you can read if you fancy it.
I guess there's probably somebody reading this who wasn't about when this blog was up and running. Hi there, if you're that person! How are you doing? Lovely weather we're having, isn't it?
This is a concept blog, but it's not a very complicated concept. Every day I write a little bit about one song. It might have been one I discovered that day, or got me through some stuff that day, or just one I've always wanted to blab about. Most entries are written late at night in a confused haze.
I pledged to do 500 days at first, then I realised that was stupid. Then I cut that to 365, but I realised that was still stupid. Eventually I rounded down to a reasonable 100, which seemed manageable at day 90. I then stopped for no reason at day 96. I'm not proud of it. In fact, it has haunted me for six months. I really need to fix this to feel good about myself again, actually. (I can hear someone saying "but you've never felt good about yourself!" from the gallery - hey, pipe down with that!)
All of this is a long preamble to getting back to where I started. Hi, again. Welcome to season 2. (I can hear the same person yelling "blogs can't have seasons!" from the gallery. Security! Security!!)
W e're restarting the clock at day 1 from tomorrow. Only one rule - no repeat songs from season one! Otherwise, it's basically anarchy. Fun! Honestly, it's not just because of the guilt - this blog was a diary and an outlet for me that I really needed in lockdown 1, and, well, it's not like it's overly different these days. I'm pretty excited to get going again. 100 days takes us to April 10, which is circa the date where we might actually be able to live a tiny bit of life again, which I like.
I will get to 100 days this time if it fucking flays the skin from my bones. This is my promise to you, my loyal, like five readers.
